Tuesday already - cannot believe how fast time flies, but it has just been so great!
So on Sunday we headed to the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum. I had been here before with my parents and totally wanted to show it to Stu. And it was totally fantastic and worth it. Managed to see most of it - Stu taught me all about the different planes - so I now know all kinds of stuff about the MIGs. Most excitingly, I managed to see a copy of the planes used in Top Gun - woop woop!

So, yesterday I got my birthday present from Annie and James - broadway...so Stu and I headed to South SeaPort to buy broadway tickets...once we had gotten over how expensive they were, we bought two tickets to see "Shrek the Musical"...and it was AWESOME...so much fun and totally worth it!
I had been a little bit worried that they were going to attempt to be the same the the Pixar movie - but I was so pleased that although they followed the story, but made it their own.

Day 1
We started early – an hour earlier than we thought, as Fiona read the time from her stopwatch instead of the actual time, so we ended up an hour early for breakfast.
I shall not let her forget this mistake.

Well, we have made it. Left Edinburgh at 2 on Monday afternoon, had a great night out in London....managed to get to the airport, onto the correct plane and find our way to our hostel from the airport.
Plane was good - we watched UP - brilliant movie and they are not too far off the point when they say that it makes grown men cry!!
Our hostel is "basic" - we have a room with a sink in it...and thats about it. But the space we are staying in is probably worth millions!!
Feeling very 'Zen'...

Apologies for the lack of updates, it's been a busy old month. I've given up my job, I've given up my flat and I've managed to get my affairs in order for the big trip.
I'm homeless, unemployed and feeling very smug about it :)
My New Toy
Spedge — Thu, 08/10/2009 - 6:46pm
The newest member of my electronic family - my new netbook arrived today, the tiny little Asus 1008HA that I talked about before, in Midnight Blue. (was the same price as the white, and supposedly it gets less dirty).
It's a cracking little thing, and it's already making friends.

Oooh, shiny....

I've been a busy boy recently. After my decision that we were going to travel the world, there's been a heap of stuff to do (VISAs, vaccinations, tickets - you know the drill). In amongst all that though, I've also set myself a challenge.
I'm allowed to buy new shiny gadgets for the trip, but only through working on extra curricular coding.

I don't know about you, but I hate needles. I'd be willing to say they are one of my greatest fears, perhaps even my worst. Spiders? Pah. Frogs? No problem. But needles? Well, I've not had a great experience with needles over my lifetime.

This is just a quick note to say...
- If you want internet, go to BEInternet (https://www.bethere.co.uk) . Fabulous, wonderful customer service, and not had a problem technically. The call centre is based in Bulgaria - but I had no problem understanding or being understood, and the answers I received did not make me feel like I was being talked down to (have you plugged it in sir...). Quick and efficient, I'll be going back to them when I'm done travelling.
Jet-Lag
Spedge — Wed, 09/09/2009 - 11:01pm
I always forget how disorientating jet-lag can be. That's thrice now that I've been to the US, and I never remember.
Jet-lag is why I missed last week's post (I was on a scare-o-plane), it's why I'm still up at 11pm alive and kicking and it's why tomorrow morning, I'll feel like crap.
