Rest & Recuperation
Spedge — Wed, 14/04/2010 - 5:06am
For the last 4 nights, we've been resting at a place called Alligator Creek. This allows us to dodge the Easter Holidays that make caravan parks and tourist attractions expensive, and take a break from the relentless driving schedule we had before.
...and that's when we took a detour the size of Belgium to get our fuel-cap back...

The reef the rock and the road...road done - rock here we come!

So we have left Canberra and the comforts of living in a house.
We are now living out of a car about the size of a people mover. During the day we drive and have a seat in the back...and then during the night it becomes our bed. Who knew we would be happy in suhc a small area, but it is ours and it comes where ever we go and it is great.
We left Melbourne and visited Phillip island where we saw Fairy Penguins, Koala and Wallabies..
After this we drove the great ocean road - which was amazing. I know we have done this before but it was amazing again. Lovely weather.
On the road again...just can't wait to get on the road again!

Well, today is our last day in Canberra. I cannot believe that we have been here for over a month. How time flies, particularly when you have a sofa and 10 seasons of friends to watch.
Unfortunately, we have only made it to season 8 - half way through and I think we are going to have to leave it at that since we have our bus tonight and I think the TV is leaving before we do!
Anyway, the last week has been busy. We have both been working. I nannyed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and worked at the bar on Friday and Sunday. Meanwhile Stu worked Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In order for people to enjoy their work they must not do too much of it

We are still in Canberra...3 weeks after arriving...the longest time we have spent in any one place since we left Edinburgh back in November.
And it is REALLY nice (most of the time)...as Stu said before we are loving the sofa and the room and the space...
But with all this relaxing comes the reason why we are in Canberra for a longer period of time...work!
Stu is currently at work. He has 3 days of work this week (which we think is quite enough - don't want to over do it!)
Settling down to an unusual sort of groove...

Well, we're still in Canberra, still lazing around in the sunshine and enjoying the fact that we are not...
a) Sharing a bathroom with anyone.
b) Having to listen to anyone snore (other than each other, but we've got used to that)
c) Having a kitchen that when we clean, will stay clean and we know it is clean.
Yes, those things make me sound old, boring and pedantic but you really have no idea. We've also got a wonderfully huge couch in front of an adequate television where the Winter Olympics gets constant showing. It's heaven.
The rare and lesser-spotted Poisonous Goon...

We last left you, dear reader, with the riveting story of Fiona being stung. You'll be glad to know she's ok, and has not complained about it since (or has been in the water!)
Bad Squishy

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy. Come on, Squishy Come on, little Squishy.
Ow. Bad Squishy, bad Squishy.

Oops, its been far too long since we blogged last. Which means we have so much to catch up on. This is because in New Zealand we had to pay for the interent and we are too cheap to do that. And to be honest now we are here in Oz and the internet is also not abundant and free I am writing this offline with the aim of copying and pasting it into our online blog!
So I think the last time we blogged we were in LA. It rained in LA which did put a bit of a dampener on our spirits. However we should not complain as it was pretty much the first rain we had to deal with since leaving the UK!
Is this the way to San Diego...?

The tricky thing about keeping a blog is the keeping of the blog. If you are doing so many interesting things that you don't have time to keep the blog, then you don't keep a blog - but if you have time to write it all down, you are probably not doing anything interesting enough for the blog. Perplexing.
